In short
Lens & Co by Tiara, a Lagos eyewear store, was cited by none of the AI engines we tested in July 2026 while four competitors were. After Vatam rebuilt it as a fast, answer-first WordPress store, Google's AI Overviews name it and cite its guides for two Lagos buying queries, ChatGPT and Claude now mention it too, and its home page scores 99 on mobile PageSpeed.
The brief
Lens & Co by Tiara is a Lagos eyewear store with nearly ten years in business. It sells blue light, photochromic and prescription glasses across Nigeria, with a showroom in Ogba and delivery to all 36 states. The goal was simple to state and hard to do: when someone asks Google, ChatGPT or Perplexity where to buy these glasses in Nigeria, the answer should include Lens & Co.
Where it started
In July 2026 we asked the major assistants for “blue light and photochromic glasses, nationwide delivery, Nigeria”. Four sellers were cited, including Mint Eyewear Nigeria, BaaWA Accessories, Accessorite Nigeria and Jumia. Lens & Co was cited in none of them.
The cause was not the product. The homepage still showed a platform default title, “Accessories for Maximum Productivity”, which said nothing about glasses, Nigeria or delivery. There were no answer pages, no About page with facts, and a no-code storefront that limited what could be fixed.
What we did
Rebuilt the foundation
The store moved to WordPress and WooCommerce with a custom theme, which gave full control over titles, structured data and page speed. It went live on its own domain on 1 October 2026.
Wrote for the questions buyers ask
- Unique titles, descriptions and focus keyphrases for 30 pages and about 125 products.
- Intent pages for prescription glasses, screen and computer glasses, and “do I need glasses”, each with an answer-first opening and FAQs.
- 20 guides, including a photochromic glasses price guide built from the store’s own catalogue data, a “which glasses should I buy in Lagos” guide, and a plain explanation of what you get when you order.
- A “quick answers” block on every glasses product page, generated from product data, so size, lenses and price are stated in text that search and AI engines can quote.
Made the entity unmistakable
- One business record with the real address, service area and catalogue, plus FAQ and article schema on content pages.
- An About page with concrete facts instead of brand language, with a visible FAQ and matching markup.
- Descriptive alt text on 431 product images, and an llms.txt file with robots rules that welcome AI crawlers.
- We removed five claims an AI-profile plugin had generated automatically, such as certifications and customer counts the business could not prove, and replaced them with true ones. Trust is the thing AI engines are trying to estimate, and a false claim is a liability.
Built tools people want to use
A face-shape finder and a virtual try-on that work from a live camera or an uploaded photo. They give people a reason to visit and share, and they hold their own search terms. The face-shape tool shows a second-closest shape when it is unsure, rather than pretending to certainty.
Made it fast
The first live check scored 74 on mobile for the home page. After removing blocking scripts, deferring fonts and fixing how the page re-rendered, the home page reached 99 on mobile PageSpeed with a 2.0 second Largest Contentful Paint on 3 October 2026. On a phone on a 4G connection in Lagos, that is the difference between a page that is read and a page that is abandoned.
| Measure | Before (July to September 2026) | After (3 October 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Homepage title and description | Platform default, unrelated to glasses | Specific to blue light, photochromic and prescription glasses in Lagos |
| Pages and products with unique SEO metadata | Almost none | 30 pages and about 125 products |
| Guides and intent pages | None | 20 guides plus 3 intent pages |
| Home page mobile PageSpeed | 74 (first live check) | 99, LCP 2.0 s |
| Named and cited in AI answers | 0 of 4 engines checked (July 2026) | Named by Google AI Overviews on 2 of 2 buying queries tested, and mentioned by ChatGPT and Claude (October 2026) |
Results: Google, ChatGPT and Claude now name Lens & Co
In July 2026, none of the AI answers we checked mentioned Lens & Co. Three months on, we asked Google the two questions a Lagos buyer is most likely to type. In both, the AI Overview names Lens & Co by Tiara, and in both it shows the store’s own pages as cited sources. Vatam’s own checks also show ChatGPT and Claude mentioning Lens & Co now, which means three AI engines name a store that none of them named in July.

Two things matter here. First, the cited pages are the ones we built: the screen glasses page and the guides on where to buy and how much blue light glasses cost. They are written answer-first, with the price and delivery facts stated in plain text. Second, the store is open to AI crawlers on purpose. A site audit shows ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Apple Intelligence, Common Crawl, Meta AI and Diffbot all allowed in robots.txt, and the same audit scores five of the store’s guides between 89 and 94 out of 100 for how easily AI engines can read and quote them.
| Guide | GEO content score |
|---|---|
| Which glasses should I buy in Lagos? | 94 |
| Buying glasses online in Abuja, Port Harcourt and Ibadan | 92 |
| Anti-radiation glasses in Nigeria | 89 |
| Titanium, metal or plastic glasses frames | 89 |
| Photochromic glasses price in Nigeria (2026) | 89 |
Scores come from a third-party GEO audit plugin, not from Google or an AI engine. Treat them as a readiness check, not a ranking.
What is still open
- Captures for two engines are still to come. The screenshots above are from Google’s AI Overviews. The ChatGPT and Claude mentions come from Vatam’s own checks, and we will add their captures here. Gemini and Perplexity are still being re-tested at 30, 60 and 90 days.
- AI summaries can misstate details. Google writes these answers itself, and figures such as prices can differ from the store’s current catalogue. Keeping prices consistent on the page and in structured data is how we reduce that.
- Search Console history is short. The store relaunched on 1 October 2026, so click and impression trends need more weeks before they say anything.
What this shows
A business with ten years of real trading history can still be invisible to AI because its website gives engines nothing to quote. The fix is rarely a trick. It is a clear entity, answers to real questions, honest claims and a fast site, in that order. That is the method we bring to Kigali, Nairobi, Kampala and Dar es Salaam.

Frequently asked questions
What was wrong with Lens & Co's search presence?
In July 2026 none of the AI engines we tested cited Lens & Co, while four competitors appeared. The homepage kept a platform default title that said nothing about glasses, and the site had no answer content, no About page with facts and limited access to structured data.
What results has Lens & Co seen?
In July 2026 no AI answers cited Lens & Co. By October 2026, Google AI Overviews named the store and cited its own pages on two Lagos buying queries, and Vatam's own checks show ChatGPT and Claude mentioning it too. The home page also reached 99 on mobile PageSpeed. Gemini and Perplexity are still being re-tested.
Which AI engines mention Lens & Co?
Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Claude. The Google results are captured on this page for two buying queries. The ChatGPT and Claude mentions come from Vatam's own checks and their captures will be added. We re-run the full test at 30, 60 and 90 days, including Gemini and Perplexity.
Why did Vatam remove claims from Lens & Co's AI profile?
A plugin had auto-generated claims such as certifications and customer counts that the business could not prove. AI engines weigh trust and consistency, so unverifiable claims are a risk. Vatam replaced them with facts the store can document.
Is the face-shape tool part of the SEO work?
Yes. Interactive tools earn visits, links and search demand for terms like find your face shape and try glasses on. The tool is also candid about its limits, showing the second-closest shape when it is unsure.
