In short

LAGE Lightings, formerly Lights Architect, is a Lagos luxury lighting brand. ChatGPT listed it seventh in July 2026. After city-level collection pages and buyer-intent articles built by Vatam, ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude all name it first for luxury lighting in Nigeria, and sessions are up 233% year on year. Here is what worked and what is unfinished.

The brief

LAGE Lightings sells luxury lighting from a showroom in Lekki, Lagos: statement chandeliers, drop lights, ceiling lights and outdoor wall lights for design-conscious buyers in Lagos and Abuja. Through the period covered below the brand traded as Lights Architect, and it has since renamed itself LAGE Lightings. We use both names here because AI engines have had to learn both.

A chandelier is a considered purchase, and when we started, chandeliers sold for roughly ₦55,000 to ₦580,000. Buyers research first, and more of that research now happens in an AI assistant than on a page of blue links. The job was to get the brand found by buyers already close to a decision, on Google and in AI answers, in a category where almost no Nigerian lighting retailer was doing the work.

Where it started

Our July 2026 audit found a store with good products and thin signals. Every page, including the cart, shared one meta description. There was no answer content for the questions buyers actually ask: delivery time, installation, sizing, price. And the homepage claimed to be the number one store in Nigeria with nothing on the page to back it up.

There was also a useful surprise. Gemini already named the brand as the first physical lighting showroom in Lagos, while ChatGPT listed it seventh among online retailers. The brand had a foothold, and nothing on the site was defending it.

What we built

  • City-level search architecture. Collection pages organised around where and how people buy, such as ceiling lights in Lekki, fence lights in Lagos and ceiling lights in Abuja, instead of one generic “Chandeliers” page.
  • A buyer-intent answer layer. Articles written for the questions people ask in the days before they spend: how much a chandelier costs in Nigeria, chandelier versus pendant light for a dining room, LED versus traditional bulbs during power cuts, the best outdoor wall lights for coastal Lagos homes, and luxury lighting ideas for modern Nigerian homes.
  • Consistent entity signals. The same name, location and description wherever the brand appears, so search and AI engines can tell it is one business.
  • Technical and structured-data fixes. Collection-page structure and indexation clean-up, with FAQ and product schema on category and product pages.

Results: first in ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude

The clearest result is how AI assistants now answer a buyer’s question. In October 2026, three different assistants put the brand first. ChatGPT’s answer to a luxury chandelier question in Lagos lists LAGE Lightings first of five picks, and writes the brand as “LAGE Lightings (formerly Lights Architect)”, so the engine has connected the new name to the old one.

If you’re looking for a genuinely luxurious chandelier in Lagos, rather than a generic mass-market ceiling light, I’d shortlist these. My top picks:

  1. LAGE Lightings (formerly Lights Architect), Lekki. “Probably my first stop for modern luxury chandeliers.” Physical Lekki showroom, with statement pieces such as the Firelli Sputnik, Halo Long and Diamond Cut Glass chandeliers.
  2. Gabino ISL, Surulere. High-end European-inspired and custom lighting.
  3. TheLightingHaus, Lekki Phase 1. Contemporary designer lighting.
  4. City Lights Limited, Lekki Phase 1. Premium residential lighting.
  5. LightExtreme, Lekki Phase 1. Chandeliers with installation and smart-home solutions.

Claude, answering with web search, does the same for a plainer question. It calls the brand “the strongest dedicated luxury option I found” and still uses the old name and domain, which shows how long a rename takes to travel.

Here are the main places to look, based on what came up in search:

  2. Precise Lighting (Lagos). A premium lighting store with a Lagos focus.
  3. Eloquent Displays & Decor. A decor supplier with a lighting category, better for decorative pieces than high-end statement fixtures.

Gemini tells a similar story. Asked in September 2026 where to buy luxury lights in Nigeria, it named the store first of four.

The numbers behind it

Impressions sat low and flat from March to May, then climbed from mid June and held, with the strongest stretch in August and early September. Shopify agrees: sessions up 233% year on year, including 496 direct sessions from people typing the brand name straight into the browser. An earlier 28-day Search Console report showed clicks up 25% to 99 and impressions up 17% to 6,140, with 79% of clicks from Nigeria, plus branded searches for “lightarchitect” up 167% and “light architect” up 67%. New queries such as “chandelier light” and “bamboo chandelier” appeared for the first time.

What has not been won yet

We would rather tell you than let you find out. Four gaps remain, and they define the next phase of work.

  • Named is not the same as cited. In the September Gemini answer, the sentence that opens the answer cites a competitor’s website. A mention wins awareness. A citation wins the click.
  • Visits are not yet turning into orders. AI referrals arrive, but none was attributed to revenue when we looked in September, and attributed revenue was still small, up 63% to ₦130,000 on a small base. A chandelier is bought on detail: dimensions, wattage, colour temperature, IP rating, delivery and installation.
  • Rankings sit at the edge of page one. Average position is 10.6, and the click rate is below what that position can carry. Titles, descriptions and product schema are the fastest levers.
  • The rename needs protecting. ChatGPT already links LAGE Lightings to its old name, which is what a rename needs, but Claude still answers with the old name and domain. To keep the link strong and carry the visibility across, the site should state the former name in plain text, redirect old URLs and declare it as an alternate name in structured data.

What we learned

First, AI engines reward clarity before they reward volume. A sensible page structure and a handful of buyer-intent articles were enough to earn first-place mentions for queries with real money behind them.

Second, the engines disagree, and they move at different speeds. In July the same brand was first in Gemini and seventh in ChatGPT. By October it was first in ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude. Track all of them, not one.

Third, a rename has to be managed. Different engines learn it at different speeds, so keep both names visible until all of them agree.

Fourth, owned visibility compounds. Over the same period Instagram sessions fell 67% and TikTok went to zero. Search and AI answers do not get switched off by an algorithm change on someone else’s platform.

Frequently asked questions

What did Vatam do for LAGE Lightings?

Vatam rebuilt the site's search structure around city-level buying intent, published buyer-intent articles on price, comparison and fit, kept the brand's name, location and description consistent across the web, and fixed technical and structured-data gaps. The brand traded as Lights Architect during this work and is now LAGE Lightings.

Did LAGE Lightings really become the first pick in AI answers?

In October 2026 captures, ChatGPT lists LAGE Lightings (formerly Lights Architect) first of five picks for a luxury chandelier in Lagos, and Claude names it first of five for luxury lights in Nigeria. Gemini named it first in September. In July 2026 ChatGPT had listed the brand seventh. AI answers vary by prompt and by user, so we treat this as a dated capture, not a permanent ranking.

Is Lights Architect the same company as LAGE Lightings?

Yes. Lights Architect is the former name of LAGE Lightings, a luxury lighting brand in Lekki, Lagos. Both names appear in this case study because the results span the rename, and ChatGPT already describes the brand as LAGE Lightings, formerly Lights Architect.

Did the work increase sales?

Traffic and visibility rose clearly, with sessions up 233% year on year. Attributed revenue rose 63% in the September comparison but from a small base, and AI referrals were not yet attributed to revenue. Fixing the decision layer on product pages is the next job, not a finished one.
